10 Reasons a Mac is Better Than a PC

Twenty years ago only a limited number of people were Mac users – mostly people who wanted or needed something different. However, ever since Apple started gaining enormous popularity with its other products like iPods, iPhones and iPads, things started to change and Mac sales saw a hefty increase. There is a lot of bogus information around the web on this topic, and in this article we will try to debunk it and discuss why you might be better off buying a Mac computer over a Windows PC.

#1 – The Design

There are numerous different styles of PCs out there, but let’s face it – when it comes to design and style, Macs have yet to be beaten. Not only do they look elegant and cool, but they are also made of high quality materials like aluminum, which makes them more durable than your average PC.

#2 – They Are Easy To Operate

We all know how difficult it can be sometimes to teach a senior how to use a computer. The great thing about Mac’s operating system is you can get the hang of it really fast, no matter how old or young you are. You may not be able to use it on an advanced level, but learning the basics of Mac OS is very easy. If you need any help with your Mac you can always attend a free workshop at your local Apple Store or schedule a One to One training with a certified expert.

#3 – If you Need Windows, Macs Can Easily Run it

When you buy a Windows PC you are stuck with using Windows. However, if you buy a Mac you can enjoy the Mac OS X experience, and if you need to access Windows for any reason you can install that as well.

#4 – Macs Are Preloaded With Useful Software

In order to properly use your PC, you often need to install a lot of different software. This is probably the last thing you want to do when you get your shiny new computer. If you opt for a Mac, you’ll get most of the software you need right out of the box – from iPhoto and iMovie that you can use to easily edit your photos and videos, to GarageBand, which is a very popular application used to create music and podcasts.

#5 – Apple Uses High Quality Hardware

If you were wondering why Apple charges more for a laptop than Dell or HP, here is the answer. Unlike most companies, they are not trying to create a cheap product with only one selling point (i.e. the price). Therefore, they use the latest and greatest when it comes to hardware – from the best mobile processors to the fastest RAM (random access memory) and high-speed SSD (solid state drive) storage.

#6 – They Rarely Get Viruses

If one of your friends owns a Mac ask them when was the last time they had to deal with a virus. Due to the fact there are a lot less Mac computers than Windows machines, the hackers don’t bother to create a lot of viruses for the Mac OS. Therefore, as long as you’re just a little bit careful with what you’re doing online there is no need to install any type of antivirus or anti-spyware software on your Mac.

#7 – Great Software for Professionals

What most people fail to understand is the fact that Apple is a software company first and foremost. With Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro, the company created some of the most impressive software for music and movie professionals respectively. Of course, professional photographers weren’t left out either thanks to Apple’s Aperture software, which was first released in 2005. Final Cut Pro is probably the most popular application from the bunch, used to edit movies such as 300, The Simpsons Movie, The Social Network and many other famous titles.

#8 – MacBook’s Trackpad is Unmatched

If you’ve ever used a MacBook then you are familiar with its one-of-a-kind trackpad. Even smaller models like 11 or 13-inch MacBook Air features this huge glass-covered trackpad that performs more functions than your average Windows notebook’s trackpad. Besides the usual left and right click, you can perform different gestures such as pinch to zoom, swipe between screens, access Mission Control and more.

#9 – Accessibility

Apple always worked really hard to make sure as many people could use its products as possible, including the customers with special needs. Users can easily enable voice control, high contrast displays, or have a Mac read out any text to them.

#10 – Convenience of Apple Stores

Macs, like all other computers, can have a problem or two at some point in its lifetime. If you own a PC, you will have to spend time finding a repair shop or a qualified individual and hope for the best. With Macs it’s much simpler – you just book a slot with an Apple Genius in your local Apple Store, take your Mac to the store where your problem will be dealt with, in most cases, for free. In certain situations Apple might even keep your device and give you a new one for free.
Macs don’t always come out on top in the battle with PCs.
